Somaliland Suspends 42 Airport Workers for whose salaries were transferred to Mogadishu. From now, the salaries will be paid by Hargeisa to be reimbursed by ICAO.

Hargeisa (Booddaalenews): Somaliland has suspended 42 airport workers in response to ICAO transferring their salaries to Mogadishu in Somalia despite the two countries not having a diplomatic relationship.

Without the approval of ICAO, Somalia claims that it has taken over the running of Somaliland airspace from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Until recently, ICAO used to pay the salaries and allowances of the staff based in Somaliland. However, in response to the Mogadishu claims, Somaliland now says the suspended workers will have to prove that they have no relations with Mogadishu. Somaliland intends to pay the employees salaries and seak reimbursement from ICOA.

These workers included Air Traffic Controllers, AIS Officers, MET Officers, FireFighting and Marshallers.
